First impressions matter
Caring for diabetes is a partnership between clinicians and the person living with it.
But when someone is in a state of shock and overwhelm, gaining their trust and actively engaging them in their care can be a struggle - particularly if time is limited.
Our striking companion cards are designed to cut through the information overload, build trust and open up a positive dialogue. Right from the start.
Cull fake news and celery cures once and for all, this is a bank of knowledge you can trust
All the content, guidance and coping techniques in our toolkit have been developed in partnership with health care professionals and people living with Type 1 diabetes.
Each theme and associated information has been vetted so you can feel confident letting people explore the platform at their own speed.
Diabetes Tech is part of the solution. Not the whole solution.
We strongly believe that true wellbeing and good management lies in acknowledging the psychological effects as much as the physical.
Sensors, pumps and monitors have revolutionised and highly improved outcomes for people living with diabetes. But technology has yet to cure things like denial, shame and isolation all on its own.
Content you can trust.
Co-created by Diabetes Health Care Professionals and people living with Type 1 Diabetes.
T1D needs a rebrand
Being told I’ll lose a foot or my eyesight if I don’t “control my condition” was not the best motivator for caring for my Type 1 diabetes.
A T1D diagnosis is like receiving a one way ticket to a foreign country - albeit a trip you didn’t sign up to - a place where the food is different, the climate unpredictable, the language and the rules confusing but where the local population is welcoming, self-aware, brave, resilient, daring and appreciative.
This is not a land of stuffy leaflets and stock imagery of smiling golfers. This is Diabetes By Design, shining a light on the guts and the glory of a condition that is life changing in many remarkable ways.
— Alex Durussel-Baker, diagnosed with T1D at 30 and creator of Diabetes by Design
